Bellegreen Visitors' Comments 2004

Winter 2004

Went to Windermere for the day - brilliant scenery. Then two long walks. The Buck disco is worth seeing from 11pm onwards on New year's Eve !

We have all had a fabulous week, we immediately felt at home here, the house is lovely. We have visited a lot of places whilst we have been here but think we need to come back to do some more ! See you next year.

A lovely property with everything we could have need provided for. Thank you. Despite the weather we have had a great week and will definitely return to Bellegreen next year. In all the years we have been coming to the Dales this is the best property we haved stayed in. Thank you again !

Spring 2004

Dot we love u ! - cottage is fantastic ! We had a great time ! The Black Bull is top - including actors pretending to be gay - King's Arms is great - The Buck is great - but don't eat there - especially in the terrible social club at the back - go to the Bridge, top beer, great service and not too far - let's say that again - go to the Bridge - not the Buck ! Don't go to the Buck for food - it is rubbish and a real shame as Reeth is brilliant !

Had a lovely week, weather mixed. Sleet at the Buttertubs so be warned. Lots of walking, eating and drinking. Pub food, The Bridge, King's Arms and Copper Kettle good. House very clean and comfy thanks to Dot. Don't want to go home.

This was our first family holiday as our twins are only just a year old. We have been several times to the Dales and this is the best cottage we have stayed in. We received lovely Dales welcomes where ever we went,. We'll be back.

Our second visit to Bellegreen and very reassuring to know what a delightful cottage awaited us at the end of the journey up the M1. Excellent entertainment in the form of the Swaledale festival - put on just for us. Dave and Peter completed the Coast to Coast walk - 196 miles in eight days and the remainder of the time spent in Reeth recovering and planning the next expedition !! Weather was superb with just two odd wet days which necessitated a trip to the Black Sheep Brewery and chocolate factory in Leyburn !!! Nice to see the Wensleydale Railway running trains again. All in all a lovely week.

An excellent week with varied weather and lots of good walks. We recommend the Bridge at Grinton for its quality of food.

Summer 2004

OK we did not all stay here, but we did hold our 6 monthly meeting here for our EU project. After hearing so much about the Yorkshire Dales for five years - it did not disappoint. The scenery, Reeth, the pubs, the food (CB Inn especially). Bellegreen and all the nature was the very best. As our Wow factor - we had a 4 kilometer walk along the Arkle - delightful. The visit was so wonderful with our European colleagues. I will come back again. Bellegreen is the perfect holiday res; the walking tremendous - best bird today a redpoll and watching a young cuckoo being fed by smaller birds ??? (members of a European research project from the UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium)

Excellent accommodation, very comfortable, superb location.Weather hot and sunny at start of week, turning colder and showery towards the end with downpours on Friday. Walked miles in both Swaledale and Wharfedale. If it turns wet suggest a Brewery Tour in Masham - very interesting !

A beautiful house and everything we needed. Fun to play on the Green and near the hills.

Hey Dot (and whoever reads this). First I'm going to say I HAD A GREAT WEEK and second sorry for the small breakage (not my fault though). Last I DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE. !, Yours I wish I wasn't leaving, Iain. Oooops almost forgot P.S. I love the cute owls. I wish I had them. P.P.S. eh ? I forgot what I was going to say - ah well. BYE.

Thanks for the use of a singular and charming house - enough nooks and crannies for everyone to find their own space. We all enjoyed a visit to the Forbidden Corner near Leyburn (we would have enjoyed it even more without the torrential, 'totally-soaked in 30 secs rain'), beautiful gardens and lots of intriguing/funny/scary bits - nervous people may need a reassuring hand to cling to. Impressed by the community orchard - becoming a near-perfect walled garden.

Thanks you for the use of your beautiful cottage, an absolute delight to stay here as is Reeth. We enjoyed the castles and of course the scenery - stunning, the walks were wonderful as were the PUBS for their food of course ?? Once again thanks very much, we will all be returning one day !

Thank you for a lovely week.

A lovely but very wet week. We recommend the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle (Monet till 30 Aug) - Hazel Brow Farm at Low Row and the Swaledale Museum in the village - quaint but the lady that runs it is full of enthusiasm.

It was a lovely house, which was just like home ! The time flew but we had fun while it lasted ! I found that when I came here it didn't seem like a different place. I'm glad we are coming here next year !!! 'Sams' in Leyburn amazing value for take out for picnics etc - can ring to pre-order ! Be here next year !

Autumn 2004

Couldn't have been luckier with the weather. Hot and sunny most days. Wonderful walks, excellent Black Sheep and extremely comfortable accommodation. Thank you.

Amazed at how comfy and well thought out Bellegreen is, very well equipped and really cosy. Weather mostly windy and wet, but spent each day visiting ie, Richmond (good indoor Sunday market), Wensleydale creamery, Aysgarth Falls, etc, returning to the comfort of central heating etc. Thank you for helping us have a great holiday.

Had a great time in Reeth - the cottage is lovely ! Thank you very much - hope to return !

Our second holiday here. Lovely house, fantastic walks - great holiday. Thank you.

This is our third time here and as ever Bellegreen is like home from home. The only downside to our weeks holiday is that our 8 month old son had to be admitted to hospital at Northallerton on New Year's day. I have to say that if anyone else is unfortunate enough to visit there, the staff are excellent and very professional but extremely friendly. Luckily Joey is now well and was here for the last 2 days of our hols. We will be back in October ! We love this place !!1 Couldn't fault Bellegreen or Reeth !
